Laboratory Capabilities
Our laboratory has developed retina-specific translational capabilities from molecular cell biology techniques to full scale large animal survival surgery in a fully functioning retina operating room replete with new surgical retina Zeiss microscope and new B&L Stellaris Vitrectomy machine. Some of the techniques we frequently employ in-house include cell culture, immunohistochemistry, cryosectioning, spinning disc confocal microscopy, intravitreal injections, aqueous sampling, live fundus photography of mouse and porcine retinas with fluorescein angiography, live optical coherence tomography (OCT), electroretinography of large and small animal models to test retinal function.
