Nastaran Samadi Rad, MS
Originally from Tehran, Iran, I earned my Bachelor's and master’s degrees in Biotechnology from the Università degli Studi di Perugia in Italy. My academic journey then brought me to The Ohio State University, where I am currently a PhD student in the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program at the College of Medicine.
My background includes research experience in Gene Editing and Cancer Biology, which helped me discover my passion for Gene Therapy and using molecular tools to make a real difference in patients’ lives. I am conducting my doctoral research in Dr. Mendel’s lab, with a focus on gene editing approaches for inherited retinal diseases and a growing interest in ophthalmology. I also have a strong passion for cell culture and enjoy learning and applying advanced imaging techniques.
Outside the lab, I enjoy nature photography and am preparing a collection for a future gallery exhibit.
